Everyone around her looked so nice. Jaime had thought she was dressed for a party, but even before her run through the woods, heels sinking into the ground and dress snagging on twigs as she fled, she hadn't looked nearly as fine as most of those at the festivities she had found herself a part of. Of course, she wasn't so sure that she hadn't actually tripped and bumped her head on a rock, that she wasn't dreaming right that moment, because she was certain that most of the graceful figures she saw weren't even human.
She had followed the strange wisp into the palace, mostly because she didn't know where else to go, and it was nice to have something giving her guidance, even if it was a little ball of light. Once inside, she felt even more awkward and out of place than at the party she had come from. If she could have blended in, sank into the fringes of a group where she wouldn't look out of place, she would have. Her slightly rumpled state made her stand out amid the nicely dressed crowds, though, and it wasn't like she could have done anything about that.
If I'd known I'd be coming, I would have packed a change of clothes... The thought drew a nervous giggle from her as she edged around another group of people. Things? She must have been dreaming. But if she wasn't, well, it couldn't be any worse than where she'd come from.
