As he watches the Slayers dance, it still doesn’t really make sense to him. Even after Sam and Faith (the girl in the crimson leather pants) have explained it all to him. Sam had found a way to free his soul from Hell and the deal he had made. It was a risk and Sam had to make a deal with another supernatural force: a pair of Slayers, a witch and a mystical key.
Apparently the Winchester boys were part of a prophecy right down to Sam’s death and his own reaction to it. Sam had been contacted by the red-haired witch who was currently looking up into his face with adoration. Somehow she had the power to release his soul but another witch had attempted to stop her from doing so.
He was sick to death of being a pawn, dragged across some mystical chess board and for once in his life he wanted out. Perhaps it was time, after all, Sammy was safe and his life-long battle with the demon that had killed his mother was over. There were other hunters who could pick up his sword and fight in his place. He was tired of death.
What are you thinking of?
Leaving.
Where are you gonna go?
Don’t know, don’t care.
Didn’t think you were a quitter.
And what do you know of quitting?
More than you’d think.
Don’t you ever get tired of always being surrounded by death?
Yeah but if I don’t fight the monsters, who will?
Aren’t there hundreds of other Slayers?
Yeah and most of them are nothing more than scared little girls who got forced into this war.
He sighs as he looks at Faith; he knows that she’s right. He let’s her drag him out to the dance floor. He’ll stay.
