She’s not quite sure when she first started to see her Watcher as more than just stuffy old Giles. Buffy knows that Faith’s comments about his potential yumminess a year ago had made her aware of Giles as a man and that he wasn’t just a Watcher or a father figure of sorts. And now as she watches him as he prepares his apartment for a date as he absent-mindedly listens to her, Buffy wishes that he could see her as more than just his Slayer and a child.
Buffy smiles at something he says and she can’t help but wish again that things were different because it’s cruel to be this close yet always so far away from him. She looks away from him and stares at the wall as she tries to think of all the reasons why she shouldn’t be thinking about her Watcher and wondering what he kisses like.
“Are you alright Buffy?” Giles asks. “Fine, just tired from class,” Buffy replies, giving him a smile. “You do know that if you ever need to talk about anything, I will always listen.”
Giles pulls off his glasses and starts to polish them, a sure sign that he’s either nervous or deep in thought. Since she knows that they’re not preparing for the next apocalypse, Buffy wonders why he’s nervous.
“It’s okay,” Buffy reassures him. “I know that it’s been hard for you to adjust these last few months with all of the changes in your life. Especially with Angel leaving town right after we stopped the Mayor.” “Giles, it’s really fine.”
Talking about Angel and how she felt after he left and how she realized that what they had although special but probably was never meant to last; is not something she wants to talk to Giles about. Buffy grimaces as she imagines that talking about Angel with Giles would be stilted and awkward even more so if she were to confess to Giles that he has replaced Angel in her mind and heart.
“Well if you’re certain,” Giles hesitantly states. “I am.”
For a brief moment, Buffy wonders what would happen if she were to be honest and tell Giles how she feels. But she knows that now is not the time, not with Giles trying to adjust to his new life and a new girlfriend and certainly not with her heartbreak over Angel still being relatively fresh. As she leaves his apartment, Buffy vows that she will find the courage to tell Giles the truth with the time is right. She just hopes that she won’t have to wait too long for the right time.

I've been meaning to post this for a few days but I just haven't been feeling that well and it's been very cold in the room where my computer is.
