Shrimp Dumplings
Time for another recipe! This one is SO good, EVERYONE I've cooked them for loves them. the prep is a little time consuming, and it's a pain to fry them in batches, though I imagine if you had a home deep fryer it wouldn't take much effort at all.
Dayna’s Dumplings
1 bag Shrimp ( Don't know how much it weighs, but I normally get the medium size guys)
1 tbsp olive oil
¼ cup minced carrots
½ cup shredded nappa cabbage (optional)
1-2 finely chopped green onions
1-2 cloves minced garlic
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1/2 lemon, juiced
1 egg for egg wash
wanton skins
1. Defrost the shrimp, then clean, peel and de-vain the shrimp if it's not already done for you. Finely chop all of it and put it in a bowl.
2. Mix in the remaining ingredients together (minus the wanton skins). This mixture can be used right away, or can sit for up to an hour in the fridge.
3. Take about a tsp and place it into the middle of the wonton wrapper. Now you get to practice your origami skills! Here is a site that I hope will help you fold your wontons.
4. Now, you can either steam these until they're translucent, or deep fry them until golden. Serve with your favourite dipping sauce ( I like plum or Sriracha...yum yum!) and enjoy!
