HB 1722 Updates
Hearing for bill coming up very soon:
The Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition is looking for Transgender people, family, friends and allies to submit letters of testimony and/or testify at the public hearing for HB 1722 "An Act Relative to Gender-Based Discrimination and Hate Crimes - This hearing will be before spring. This is our time to educate legislators on the issues of discrimination and hate crimes that affect Transgender/transsexual/crossdressing communities and those whose gender identity or expression doesn't fit the stereotypes of how men or women should look or act.
You may not be a direct victim of discrimination or a hate crime, but think about how your life maybe limited because of not being protected from discrimination - are you worried about trying to get a new job, move to a new apartment, what happens if you get a new supervisor at work, or if you should be outed? This legislation is also about preventing discrimination as well as addressing it.
Not sure what to say or what to write?
Visit our "Prepare to Testify" page at http://www.masstpc.org/legislation/howt
Ready to take the next step?
Contact Gunner at gscott@masstpc.org with your name, phone number, and email to find out more about the hearing, how to testify, or what to submit for written testimony.
