She'd woken up sometime in the ... well, she didn't know what time it was, honestly, because the lack of ambient light and the lack of clock left them in some perpetual twilight limbo. But she'd been sound asleep, so it was sometime between what should have been dark and dawn, unless her internal clock had been just as shaken. At first, she didn't know what had awoken her until she felt it again. A shudder racing through the train as if something had ... bumped it. She wanted to dismiss it as impossible, but was it really? They'd seen little fish; why not big ones? Why not monsters? Lily had gone to the window and tried to peer out but she saw nothing but darkness and vague shapes. The bump hadn't come again, so she'd caught a few more uneasy hours of sleep before rising to make breakfast. The lights held through the meal, which she was grateful for; it seemed to her the lights were going out more and more often, and staying off longer when they did. She'd cleaned up after breakfast, and killed a bit of time doing support on the frozen observation car. She'd worried there for a bit before she decided to go check on people -- it was better than standing where she was and fretting about things she couldn't actually do anything about. So she'd made her way down the hall toward the front of the train. She'd paused outside of Jaime's room before changing her mind. She knocked once on Severus' door before she let herself in. Her lips parted to call out his name, to see where he was, when the train lurched suddenly as if something underneath it had just bumped it viciously upward -- and the lights cut out at the same time. With a soft cry, Lily stumbled forward into the room, her arms flailing out to find something to brace against even as she barked her hip against the back of the chair. "Fuck," she swore softly as she straightened up, rubbing her hip. "Sev?" She called to the dark room, wondering if he was even here. She hadn't seen him, though to be fair, she'd had all of a second or two to look before the lights had all gone out. |
