Characters: Kaylee and Jack Location: Kitchen Time:Late-ish Wednesday evening (Before the water + fishies appear ..after syringe info? ) Warnings/Ratings:None so far. Summary: First meeting, chatting, baked goods! (!dice) Status:Private, On-going.
Kaylee’d tried not to think so much on the one person in particular that mattered to her who didn’t get back on the train. Mal. It'd been the whole named syringe thing, he fact she'd wondered what the Cap'n would do- he'd probably be suspicious first, tell folk not to take them. She missed him plenty even if it was near two weeks since he'd been gone. Maybe he’d wanted to stay. Maybe it’d made him happier, maybe it was what he wanted. But he could’ve said so. Or, most likely it was like Jaime said, people got pulled off the train the same as they got plonked on it.
Either way, worrying herself over it wouldn’t help- wouldn’t bring him back. If he did get sent back to Serenity, it was Kaylee’s hope that it was at somewhere safe. Somewhere good. There was the hope too, that he might come back- but Kaylee realised that was a selfish sort of thought- if Cap’n found a way back to his ship, was a good thing.
Still, baking was something to distract her- something she could share too. River and Simon had their own batch. Wasn’t often they’d ever had all the supplies to bake back on Serenity, she’d more often than not had to improvise and really it was just protein just made to look like something- cakey. With the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies drifting, Kaylee shifted them off the tray with a spatula and started setting them on a plate.
