Sing a Sad Song
Characters: Juliet, open
When: Tuesday evening
Location: Entertainment car
Warnings/Rating: None
Summary: Juliet hears herself singing and it makes her sad
Status: Open, ongoing

At first, she’d thought her power had been broken. A survey on the network had informed her that wasn’t the case. Well, it was, but that wasn’t the event. Somehow, her power was broken -- and everyone else was just losing things. Clearly, she’d been disabled so she didn’t spoil the train’s fun. Jaime had later informed her summoning spells didn’t work either, so she at least felt a little better about all of it. She wasn’t the only one broken.

Settled in the entertainment car, Juliet was trying to find something to watch that wasn’t Panem TV (because that was just gruesome), when she heard a familiar voice over the intercom. It was her voice, and she was singing the song she’d sung to Alex.

Predictably, the memories that went along with that surged to the surface, and tears welled in her eyes. Drawing one hand across her cheeks, she wiped them away and sniffled. Wrapping one arm around herself, she continued to try to find something to watch, but she’d lost what little enthusiasm she’d had for that project.

Alex. Even if she got sent back, it wasn’t like they were a couple at home. It wasn’t likely to happen, either. She’d forget the train, from what she understood, and … he wouldn’t remember, either. Here had been the only place she could have had that, and she guessed that was just how the dice rolled.

Leaning back against the couch, Juliet was glad when the song changed to something else. She didn’t know who was singing that song, but she didn’t much care because it wasn’t her. Shaking her head, she stared at the TV as she tried to drown out all the memories that were going to do nothing but make her miserable.
