Dinner was the same as it always was. Her mother berating her for not sitting like a lady should. For not being more interested in hobbies fit for a lady of her stature. Her father sitting idly by and saying absolutely nothing. Regina loved her father that was a given. But she often wondered if he truly loved her. He never stood up for her and cowered when her mother tore into her. The only difference at dinner this evening was that she was engaged to the king. From the moment that her mother had accepted the kings offer for marriage, Regina had been filled with dread. Her heart belonged to Daniel and it had for quite a long time. Their stable boy with his charming smile and bright blue eyes. From the moment that her eyes had laid upon him she had been lost. Lost to true love. Keeping their love a secret had been hard. Often times dodging her mother at every turn. Their love almost jeopardized by her rescue of the kings young daughter, Snow. But the young princess had promised to keep her secret and allow them the chance to run away. To be married without her mother getting in the way. Leaving the life behind the only option the two young lovers had to avoid her marriage to the king. When the time was right she had snuck out the back door of their manor and made her way to the stables, Daniel waiting for her arrival. Regina's eyes fluttered open and she took a look around. Daniel was nowhere in sight. The last thing that she could recall was meeting him at the stables under the cover of darkness. The room she'd awoken in was unlike the one she'd had in the manor and her first instinct was that they'd safely gotten away. But if so, where was Daniel? There were no traces left in the room that gave light to him being nearby. The clothing strewn about unlike anything she had ever seen. A strange man slept in the bed across from hers. Sliding out of bed she took note of what she was wearing. It felt comfortable but was so very foreign. Spying a pair of shoes near her feet she slipped them on. Confusion was beginning to settle in. Her biggest concern being where her true love currently was. Quietly she slipped out of the room and began walking. A glance out the window made her wonder if at some point during the evening, Daniel and she, had approached a hatter. The land outside looked like one that could only be reached by an individual such as a hatter. As she continued walking she wondered if Daniel was even here. There was no sign of him in her room or anywhere else so far. Was this some scheme of her mother's. Had she not even gone to meet Daniel. As she walked into a room that resembled a kitchen she sat down on the nearest stool. Everything looked so foreign and she was at a loss. |
