Emma couldn’t believe that today marked the day the curse was cast 28 years ago even though now it was broken, but it also meant that today was her birthday. Today she was twenty nine years old and the whole thing made her feel sick to her stomach. Last year at this time, she was going to dinner with that punk Ryan cause she had to do her job and he was right at that time, Emma knew nothing about family. Then she went home to have a cupcake like she always did on her birthday, wishing for once to have someone to spend her birthday with. She would never forget that she got her wish as Henry showed up on her doorstep. Here she was again with her birthday and her family was all around, but she wasn’t used to people doing anything for her birthday. Last time she ever had a party was when she was five and then things started to go downhill because the family was looking at sending her back. Emma had grown accustomed to spending her birthdays alone and this would be another one like that. Regina’s comment had annoyed her a bit, but she wasn’t going to let it get to her. Heading into the back kitchen, she wished this place had a bakery to buy herself a cupcake, but she knew she would have to bake. Grabbing herself a beer to celebrate while she made some cupcakes. A while later she had made some cupcakes, putting most of them off to the side for others. Emma would have loved to have a birthday cake, but she never got that and figured a cupcake was more as a celebration for herself. Without any candles, she put the cupcake in front of her as she looked down at it before closing her eyes. It wasn’t the same as wishing before blowing out the candle, but she could hope it worked the same. Closing her eyes, she found that she was wishing for two things even if she didn’t think either would come true. One being that Regina would be sent home and that her parents would accept her for who she was even with all her bad flaws. Opening her eyes with a small smile, she took a sip of her beer before bringing up the cupcake in front of her to her mouth for a small bite. Not bad! Emma had to admit she did a good job with these, but at hearing the door, she glanced upward to see who had come into the kitchen. |
