Though the train and its environs were still definitely strange to Marian, in general, she was beginning to become accustomed to the routine of things. People on the network had kept her informed of what to do and what to avoid, and she had found small comforts in being able to adapt different parts of her home routine to this new and different world.
The open air car had been, Marian found, a welcome escape from the close confines of the train cars. She had spent several afternoons there, enjoying the scenery- even just for a few hours, it was a wonderful relief not to feel so enclosed. Entering the open air car today, Marian wasn't surprised to find it already occupied- the surroundings were beautiful, and certainly she wasn't the only one who would want to take advantage of them.
"Good afternoon," she offered, by way of greeting- and announcing her presence, just in case.
