Logan had thought he'd acclimate to the quiet again, but he hadn't. Not really. Even with the knowledge she was gone, Logan still kept expecting Rogue to show up at his compartment. To smell her when he poked his head into his room. But her scent had started to fade and was nearly gone now. While Marian was here -- again -- he didn't think she was quite in a place where he should expect her to stop by. Then again, maybe she wouldn't. Maybe this particular version of her wouldn't have a cause to seek him out. He knew he could go visit Trish, and the thought did occur to him. He liked her, and she was good company, but he didn't think he would be particularly good company tonight. He figured he should probably hang out in his compartment and watch the goats and sheep flash by. So of course he decided then to venture out of his cage and make himself present to the general public. Even as he thought that, he smirked slightly. Sometimes he wondered how many people even knew he was here, but ... so many were swept up in their own lives and concerns. Their own losses. Lately, there'd been too goddamn many losses. He was quietly dreading the day of a particular significant loss. While it might not be inevitable, there was no certainty either that people would stay. Some had been on for months and months, and were still swept away, sent back, whatever people wanted to call it. It amounted to the same thing. As Logan made his way quietly along the corridor, his tread heavy on the floor, he reflected to Jaime's earlier visit. The little witch had asked if this was the cow reality, and he had to admit there was a very similar smell in the air. He didn't think it was the same though. Close, but not completely the same. Maybe it was a neighbor where the population had grown into sheep and goats instead of cows. He did smile a little at that, and he wondered what Jaime was up to now. Given the hour, he reasoned she was probably ... busy. If it had been earlier, he might have stopped by to see her, if only to see her expression when it was him knocking on her door. Instead, he made his way to the enclosed observation car. Swiveling one of the chairs to face the windows, Logan settled into it and gazed out into darkness lit by a half-moon. He could see enough of the animals to gather most of them were sleeping, but this wasn't really about watching the scenery. It was sitting quietly with his thoughts somewhere that someone might strike up a conversation with him. |
