Jaime was sort of dodging people at the moment. There was a touch too much chaos, and there was too much snapping going on. She was giving some serious consideration to heading outside for a little while, but the fact that the next stop was published gave her some pause. Suppose today was the day, and she was stuck in Africa? No, thanks. Sure, she could no doubt pop her way to something resembling civilization somewhere, but who knew what this world did -- or didn't -- contain. For all she knew, they were back in the time of pre-civilization. The places they were passing looked untouched, anyway. So after she'd ascertained that Jake was somewhere else, she decided to retreat to her room with a book for a while. She could have gone to pester Lily, but she figured the other witch could use a break from Jaime's mood. Jaime knew she was having moods and being snappier than usual, and she was trying to rein herself in, but self-control had never been one of her strong suits. And some people were just rubbing her the wrong way. So really, it was better all around that she go be by herself for a while. Still, she thought she'd want to peek into Ray's room and see ... well, not so much see if he was in as see if there was something funny she could do to screw with him. After dropping her book on the bed, she headed to the door separating his room from her and Jake's room, and shouldered it open. Pale blue eyes caught on a figure, and she was about to apologize for barging in -- but then she realized it wasn't Ray. It was, in fact, someone she had hoped would never, ever show up here. "Oh, shit," she said before she clapped one hand over her mouth. The damage, however, was already done. |
