Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:percy jackson, rory williams, {luke castellan, {thalia grace

Characters: Luke Castellan, Thalia Grace, Rory Williams, Percy Jackson, and a partridge in a pear tree
When: Tuesday Evening, right after this
Location: Parlour car
Warnings/Rating: Mentions of blood?
Summary: Rory comes to save Luke. Percy comes to be baffled. Thalia just wants to go away.
Status: Closed, Ongoing

When Thalia had gone off in search of something to do, she hadn't expected to find her ex-best friend and traitor to the gods lying in the hallway bleeding to death. In fact, if there were anyone she expected to see less than Luke Castellan, she'd yet to think of it - mostly because as far as she knew, he was dead. And evil. Dead and evil people weren't really ones she regularly came across.

But there he'd been, lying on the floor, bleeding with Annabeth's dagger still in him. She'd fed him her last crumbs of ambrosia to keep him from dying then and there, but he was still extremely wounded and she hadn't even been able to get him to the infirmary before he'd collapsed. So she'd put out an urgent post on the network, and fortunately someone was coming. She only hoped that they'd get there in time.

Percy had practically run down the corridors on his way to the parlor car, his mind racing with a thousand different emotions. Was it good that Luke was here? Was healing him a good idea? Was Kronos still inside him? What if this was a trick?

He shook his head, apologizing as he ran into someone he didn't recognize, bursting into another car with enough force and speed to cause the people inside to frown at him like he had three heads. He shrugged with a grin, used to that reaction, and kept going, finally reaching the parlor car.

Hesitating outside, he pulled Riptide from his pocket and uncapped it, feeling better with the three feet of Celestial Bronze at his side. With a deep breath, he entered the room, his eyes immediately going to the familiar face that lay prostate on the floor.

He frowned, feeling almost frozen in his steps as he looked at him. Luke had not been a friend in a long time. But in the last few months he had grown to pity him, and to respect him for making the right choices in the end.

But Luke being alive was opening up a trove of emotions that he didn't exactly know how to deal with at the moment.

"Uh, so, hey," he said lamely. "Is the doctor close?"

So, technically speaking, Rory wasn't a doctor. But he'd seen the call for help, and no one else had spoken up, so he'd volunteered- they were short-staffed as it was, and if the situation was as bad as has been described, they couldn't afford to wait. He had a small medical bag that he kept in his room- outfitted from the Infirmary- so Rory had grabbed that and made his way down the train as quickly as he could.

Arriving in the Parlor Car, Rory assessed the situation as best and as quickly as he could. Two frantic-looking teenagers hovering near a third very bloody and very comatose one. Luckily, he'd seen worse- and stranger- things, so he crossed to them quickly and knelt at the injured boy's side.

"I'm Rory," he introduced himself, quickly, before he forgot. "One of you- raise his legs, would you?" Producing a pair of scissors in the bag, Rory made easy work of cutting up the side seam of the shirt the boy wore, clearing it away from the wound at his side. Next was a bandage- one used first to clean the wound, checking for debris or any other damage, and then a second used to press hard over the wound itself to help slow the bleeding. A free hand checked the boy's pulse, while Rory visually monitored his breathing and finally asked, "What happened here?"

Luke couldn't entirely tell if he was fading or staying. He knew Thalia had her arms around him and they were alone for a little bit, before the doors burst open and in stormed Percy. He groaned, wondering why on earth he was here, but he supposed it was only fitting. He'd have to sort all of that out later.

"For the love of Hades," he coughed out- he would have rolled his eyes if he could. "No need for the damn sword. 's not like I'm going anywhere."

His vision went blurry again as Rory entered and he blinked, trying to see straight. "Stab wound. I should be dead." His voice was quieter, each word forced out.

It wasn't until Percy burst in that Thalia became acutely aware of the fact that she was practically wrapped around Luke. It had made sense when she'd done it: he was falling down and she was trying to keep him up. Total sense. Very logical.

But that had been when it'd just been the two of them. With another demigod there, it made a little less sense. She pulled away and quickly wiped away her tears, leaving streaks of blood on her cheeks.

"Yeah. Yeah, there's someone coming," she said, trying not to sound as anxious as she felt.

When Rory arrived, she carefully raised Luke's leg as directed. "I found him like this," she explained to Rory. "He just got here, I think. He's been stabbed, right under the armpit."

"Thalia," he said carefully. "Are you sure we shouldn't just..." he trailed off for a moment, not wanting to say the words, because they sounded so awful, even to him. But if this was a trick, and Kronos was still in there...then...

"Are you sure we shouldn't just let him die?"

He looked down at Luke, who seemed to regain consciousness as they spoke.

"Yeah, well, with the number of times you've tried to kill me, I think I'll keep a sword handy, thanks. Especially since I'm not quite sure that you're...you know...you."

Or, actually, if it mattered if he was. But he wouldn't say that.

"Yes, well, you're not dead. Don't talk, anyway- save your breath." Rory's tone was more clipped than his usual- even if they wouldn't have known the difference- but he had a lot on his mind, here, in trying to keep the situation properly assessed and under control.

"We're not letting anyone die," Rory replied in turn, pressing harder against the wound- adding another fresh bandage compress when it was needed. He wasn't certain who these kids were, or why they thought it was alright to talk about simply discarding life in that way, but he wouldn't allow it if he had any say in the matter.

"Guess 'm not, " he muttered, rather wishing that he had just died anyways, or at least ended up somewhere that he didn't have to deal with Jackson of all people. Thalia, he didn't mind, and he didn't even know the doctor, so that didn't really bother him. "It's probably gonna be bad, " he told the doctor as cheerfully as he could manage. "Stabbed Mt Achilles heel. Pretty much my only weak spot."

Percy's question was one she'd been asking herself, somewhere amidst her worry for Luke's well-being. It seemed like Luke right now, but who was to say that Kronos wasn't just lurking underneath, just waiting for Luke to recover so he could kill them all?

"Let's just take care of this first," she told Percy in a low voice. "If it turns out he wants to kill us all, we could just stab him again." They knew where his weak spot was, anyway.

"As for you," she said, turning back to Luke, "just shut up and let the nice doctor work. I don't want my ambrosia to go to waste."

"Um, hello, don't mind me, but didn't you stab yourself on purpose, Luke? To, you know, save the world? And if we save you and everything, doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose? I mean, who's to say you're not going to go all darkside on us again? We lost enough people the first time through, and this garbage was supposed to be over!"

Percy was getting a little animated that everyone seemed to think that saving Luke was a good idea. Sure, it was sad that he had to die, but...uh...he had to die.

"Um, did you two forget the prophecy?

The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap
A single choice shall end his days
Olympus to preserve or raze
."

If Luke doesn't die, the prophecy is changed. And unfinished. Are you sure this is a good idea?"

Stabbed my Achilles heel- Even though Rory could plainly see that the wound was on the boy's side, he didn't dispute this fact. Honestly, most of what the three of them were saying seemed like gibberish at best to him- he just knew that they'd called for help, and he was going to do just that.

Finally, though, he interjected- "Everyone not talking about killing my patient, in here. Everyone else-" He gave Percy a warning look, "-out. I mean it. He's in bad enough shape without you standing over him with a broadsword ready."

"Can still hear you," Luke ground out, glaring up at Percy and Thalia. If he ever got out of this mess, he was going to punch the little twerp in the face. "What if I did die? What if this is me coming back? I don't know what in Hades' name happened to me- I stabbed myself, I disappeared, and then I was here."

His words were completely undermined by the fact that he struggled to get them all out, and he looked gratefully up to the doctor as he tried to send Percy out. "Thank you." Closing his eyes, he thought it would be really easy to just pass out again, but he tried to resist the pull of it. "Don't know how long I can-"

Thalia really didn't know if this was a good idea, but she did know this: "I'm not going to let someone die on an 'if' if I don't have to," she told Percy. Then, glaring at Luke in case he got any ideas about her wanting to save him particular, she added, "Anyone. Also, you're supposed to stop talking, so shut up."

She went back to the role of reluctant nurse, propping up Luke's leg. Really, she should just be walking out that door with Percy.

"Um, I don't know, Thalia. Since we're talking the end of the freaking world if we're wrong. And...if he does live, what are we going to with him? We can't just let him...wander around without knowing it's all him in there."

Percy glared at Rory, but other than that ignored him.

"Fine. But if he ends up killing everyone on the train, this is your responsibility, Thalia."
