WHO: Rose Weasley and OPEN! WHAT: Just looking back over the last month, and looking forward WHEN: Early, early Tuesday morning WHERE: Outdoor observation car WARNINGS: Will update if necessary
It had been a month since Piotr had disappeared from her life. Part of her couldn't believe it had been so long, while another part of her felt that every moment had been an entire lifetime of sadness. But things...
Well, she couldn't exactly say that things were getting better. Piotr hadn't come back. She still nursed a loss and a sadness that she wasn't sure would ever go away. He'd been her first love, and she wasn't sure you ever got over that - even if you could eventually move on.
But if things weren't quite getting better, at least they were getting easier. She wasn't crying herself to sleep every night anymore. She could think of Piotr and sometimes even enjoy the memories. She'd found herself laughing again, and her natural curiosity and fascination with the world around her was starting to return.
She was desperately lonely. She missed Piotr. But for the first time, it was actually starting to feel that even though she'd been broken, she'd mend.
Midnight found her sitting in the empty open-air observation car, searching for glimpses of light in the darkness around her, trying to understand what it was she saw. Many were frightened of this new scenery, but this was Rose's thing. The unknown. The mysteries. The secrets of life that were hidden out there in the shadows. And instead of fear, her heart felt a strange excitement at the peeks of scenery that she caught on occasion.
She cradled a paper cup of tea in her hands as she watched, her eyes bright with interest. Life was, like the darkness, full of mysteries. And some of those secrets would be good and some would be bad. And it was how often that you pushed the darkness back to reveal beautiful or amazing things that decided what kind of a life you would have. And Rose, for the first time in a month, felt the determination to put her life back on the track she wanted it to be on.
