Summary: Marian is exploring the train and found the Entertainment Car. Technology is confusing.
Status: Open
Marian was still trying to adjust to the train and the new technology that was on board. The train itself was a new piece of equipment that she was wholly unfamiliar with. It was hard to think that a mass of steel and metal moving forward could be safe, particularly when they were traveling in a cave. The darkness bothered her while she was in her room so she tended to stay out in the other compartments for as much time as possible. The baggage car in the front had proven useful, along with the clothes Simon had brought her. He'd been kind enough to bring her sensible things, showing her proof that he'd at least been familiar enough with her to know that she preferred being covered up. Her Nightwatchman clothes were hidden underneath her bed, along with her bow and quiver. The knives she kept on her, unwilling to be unarmed in such a strange place. The people here were unfamiliar and from all walks of life it seemed. Not many, if any, were from her time or place and she found herself missing Nottingham, even if it did include the Sheriff and Guy. Of course, thinking of Guy reminded her that there was a man who looked like him here. Marian wished with all her heart that she didn't run into him at least until she had a chance to heal properly.
The stitches were still in, and would be for a few weeks according to Doctor Tam. She was feeling better, though not quite at her best. It still wasn't enough to get her to use any of the magical healing options that the doctor had offered. Marian just didn't trust it and there was no harm in letting it heal provided that Guy wasn't around. Robin was here too, and she knew he wouldn't let any harm come to her. As annoying as it was to have him constantly worry about her, it was sweet and she appreciated it. Even if she could take care of herself, recent stabbing aside. The kitchen seemed curious, a newfangled stove from the look of it and an object meant to keep food cold as far as she could tell. She continued on, stopping here and there to explore the various cars and the names on the doors. It wasn't until the Entertainment Car that she stopped for any extended period of time.
Her gaze was initially drawn to the large black rectangular objects that the couches seemed focused on. There weren't many buttons, but quite a few wires and she was absolutely befuddled by it. Near by, there were racks of thin, rectangular shaped boxes with pictures and descriptions of them. She could read, of course, and it seemed the boxes contained a kind of story, but when she opened them, there were only round discs, leaving her even more confused. "Is this supposed to be some kind of entertainment?" she asked herself, turning over the DVD cover in her hand. She looked to the television again and noticed a smaller box in the stand that appeared to have a few buttons on it. She pushed them each carefully, going down the line. None of them seemed to do anything except for the last one, which seemed to power the whole thing. So she pressed the buttons again and one of them made a secret compartment pop out. "What on earth..." but she looked to the DVD cover in her hands and noticed that the compartment seemed to have a spot for something roughly the size of the disc. "Huh. I wonder..."
Marian transferred the disc from the container into the device and hit the button again that opened it in the hopes that it would also close it. She was right and the numbers appeared on a small display. Unfortunately, the television was off, so all she had to look at was a black screen. Frowning, she asked herself, "Why didn't it work?"
