Wolverines in Caves
Characters: Logan, Marian
When: Monday morning
Location: his compartment, touring car
Warnings/Rating: None expected
Summary: Logan smokes, smells a cave, and watches the scenery
Status: Complete
At least in a cave he could have the window open. He had to watch for bugs and bats and other things, but it was a fair trade as far as he was concerned. The cave didn't smell fantastic, but he wasn't too concerned about that. It smelled wet and dank, and animal, but he didn't mind it. There were other smells on board that were more powerful than the scents of the tunnel drifting in the window. The smoke, for instance, was strong enough to drown out the worst of it. Settled comfortably in his seat, a bottle of beer on the table before him, Logan exhaled a plume of smoke toward the window. He heard something moving in the darkness, but it was distant and the train passed it quick enough. He did wonder what would happen if they were assaulted by cave creatures, but he didn't think it was a genuine worry. They survived assaults by giant squids; they could handle whatever this tunnel ... cave ... whatever was going to throw at them. Glancing over to his door, he realized he'd closed it behind him. For a moment, he debated opening it, but he was comfortable where he was. Besides that, the people who knew him knew enough to come in. He guessed the new Marian might not, but if she was anything like the prior incarnation of her (and he assumed she would be, if she was the same person), she'd be brassy enough to knock, at least. While he was fine with the change of scenery, he still wasn't in a place where he was inclined to meet new people today -- so a closed door suited him just fine. If someone new wanted to brave the closed door -- or just didn't know what the sign on the door meant -- well, so be it. He'd see who it was, and how it went, and if he didn't want to talk to them ... well he'd already proven he knew how to scare people off, didn't he? |
