Errr, right. Getting ahead of himself again. Tidus puffed his cheeks. "The fayth were people from Zanarkand who volunteered to undergo this ritual that took their souls from their body when they were still alive and had their souls sealed into statues. Their power lets a summoner use the power of pyreflies--I don't know how to explain those, they're all spiritual energy and stuff--but they use the pyreflies to create the aeons or other stuff. Aeons are powerful creatures that summoners can use to help them fight. So, like, when they pray at the temples..."
Pause. Tidus smiled apologetically. "Sorry, getting ahead of myself. A thousand years ago, there was a war in Spira between Zanarkand and Bevelle. Yu Yevon was the leader and was losing, so he turned the people into fayth and created this dream version of Zanarkand. That's where I'm from." Yes, from dream Zanarkand. "Then, he created Sin, who was...I think the armor around it? It's confusing." Especially when Sin was in dream Zanarkand, but that was his own fault, wasn't it? "Anyway. So Yevon's daughter, Yunalesca, and her husband, Zaon, went to stop Sin. Zaon was turned into the Final Aeon as a means to defeat Sin. Yunalesca died, and Yevon turned Zaon into a new Sin. This process repeated over and over again with new summoners and guardians. When Sin would be defeated, there was this thing called the Calm, which was the time between Sin's death and the birth of a new one. So, like, the Spirans would basically beg summoners to go die so they could have the Calm." He sounded bitter about that.
But, circling back. "So, uh, where I come in. The fayth were tired of dreaming after a thousand years of it. They asked me to destroy Yu Yevon so they could finally sleep. When Yevon was defeated, the fayth were free to enter the Farplane--that's the afterlife. But, because they did, that meant that dream Zanarkand and I disappeared, because no one could summon us." He made a face. "But, if that's the case, I don't know how it's possible that I'm here." It was all very confusing.
