Lily was more than special. She was entirely unique. To James anyway since he'd never met any other girl who had ever made him want to change himself for her, be better for her, be worthy to be with her. Come to that. James Potter hadn't met another girl in his whole life that made him even want to be with her since girls were always too much of an enigma to him to make them worthwhile. He'd found other things to occupy his time---not all of them the most by-the-rules things, true enough, but something other than girls for definite.
He laughed at little at the thought Jaime proposed, choosing to ignore further talk of Lily at present, "I don't ever think about any place specific when I'm absorbing it, but that's one thought to keep in mind, isn't it? I tend to keep all my focus on what I'll wind up as rather than what I'm starting with which seems to be why it's likely easier for me."
It was true that the entire transformation was easier for him than it had been for his friends, but James really wasn't certain why that might have been. He had theories. That was all they were though. Theories.
Watching Jaime work at her ear, James thought she did a fairly good job with her wand even if she did look as if she were sincerely concerned she'd wind up with wings coming out the side of her head rather than pointy tips to her ears. He snickered quietly as she seemed to be managing it. She had looked so concerned and it really was a simple shift. He could have righted it if she'd buggered it all up. He was pretty sure. Mostly certain for definite.
"Don't try to force it. You're looking to allow a change to take place, not make one occur. There are some witches and wizards what are born able to do this effortlessly. It'll never be that easy for you to change a single thing, ears or eyes or nose, but it does get that easy for the shift to your animal form. No idea what that's to be for you," he shrugged, rolled to let his head fall against the glass as he pressed his back to it, "That'll be a surprise most likely, but it will be easy if you manage it the first time. Once you've done it once? It's easy from then on out. Least it has seemed to be for all of us who've managed. We weren't actually trained for this, you realize?"
He hadn't meant to say anything on that, but it seemed only fair considering how worried she already looked over a simple feature change.
