It wasn't the confined spaces that was doing it. It wasn't even the scenery. It was the fact the train wasn't her boat, they weren't in space, and Richard and Fletcher and the rest of the crew weren't here. Mostly Richard though. It had been a long, long while since she'd been away from her pilot for this long. She missed him, and being away made her realizing just how much. She knew there was nothing to do about it. Brooding and sulking wasn't going to make Richard magically appear on the train. Or Fletcher. She'd take anyone familiar at this point. It was almost to the point where she was going to go seek out Doctor Tam or Serenity's mechanic just because they were from her world. And that, she thought, was verging on pathetic. But she guessed this was what it was like to feel homesick. If she'd never felt it before, did that mean she'd always been home? Home was where the heart was, and she guessed her heart was somewhere in the distant future, drifting around the black. Ash smirked slightly, shifting in her seat before setting her book aside. She wasn't reading it anyway. Honestly, she guessed she was fishing for company. Her room was lonely, even with the sounds of other people around. They weren't her people, and they weren't the familiar sounds of Chart the Stars. Bracing her elbow on the arm of her chair, she cupped her chin in her palm and gazed moodily toward the curtain-covered window. |
