John nodded along as Jack told him what he knew about the little guy, making a note of his temperature and removing the thermometer again. He placed it down and swapped it for a stethoscope.
"Okay, he's got a little bit of a fever, but nothing too serious," he told Jack, trying to be reassuring, as if he really was the boy's father. "I'm going to have a listen to his chest- are you okay holding him? We can pop him down in one of the cribs, if you'd like a break," he told him, nodding over to the makeshift maternity ward that Dr Tam had set up.
