Connor was taking a well earned break from baby-duties, and had headed over to the Entertainment Car to play video games. Over the last few days they'd divided up their time and begun functioning as a fairly credible team, and the whole task of baby-minding was a lot easier than Abby had expected. Of course, Genghis slept through the night, unlike many of the kids around these parts, which was a huge blessing, which meant that, for the most part, Abby was able to function like a normal human being. She knew that the boy needed company though, as much as anyone, so when Dean mentioned the child he'd been given it seemed like a wasted opportunity to get in some face time with the guy. So meeting Ringo Starr, however tiny he may be, played a small part in her decision. It might even have been part of the reason for the grin she was currently sporting, but, she had to remind herself, she was holding the father of modern civilization in her hands. He hadn't been particularly modern at the time, but it was still a huge achievement, and one any parent would be proud of! Abby gave her charge a tight squeeze and brushed her nose against his, eliciting a happy giggle. As she was about to knock the door it opened and Jaz stood before her, a broad grin in place. "About damn time!" was her welcome, though the arm around her shoulder ushering inside and the instant doting on Genghis softened the blow enough for Abby to laugh it off. "Not freaked out by the whole baby lark?" she asked the red-head as she entered the unfamiliar room. It was nice to see the two making a go of things, despite the train's shenanigans. "It'd take more than this to freak me out," Jaz replied with a laugh. "I have a niece a little older than these little guys, and another niece or nephew on the way." A brief shadow of sadness clouded her eyes for a moment, and Abby resisted the urge to reassure her. Jaz wasn't great at dealing with feelings, and Dean seemed to have that area covered. She took Genghis for a moment, and cooed and gurgled along with him until he was laughing happily. "Hey boys," she called to the bathroom, "your little friends have come to play, which means it's work-out time for me - and diaper-duty," she said with a wince, handing Abby back the baby. "Have fun, and try not to break the train," Jaz waggled a finger at Genghis as she backed out of the room. Dean appeared with his own bundled, who was just a little bigger than her own. "I see that nappies haven't dampened Jaz's spirits," Abby grinned at her friend and moved to greet him with an awkward hug, making sure not to squish the babies. "Meet Genghis Kahn," she said with a chuckle, the idea that this could really be him still felt bizarre. "Which means, you must be Ringo!" she held out a finger for him to shake. |
