Running wasn't something that Sirius was good at, fighting? That was a whole different story and that? That was something that he was bloody good at. It hadn't taken long for the Death Eaters to find him, and he'd bloody been trying to hide but being cooped up was not Sirius' idea of a good time. Plus his food supply was running low, and it would be another few days before anyone checked in on him to see how he was fairing he was sure. He'd only nipped down to the nearest market to get the essential things that he'd needed, and he'd ducked into an alleyway to Apparate when the two Death Eaters had descended upon him. It was strange, in hindsight, that they'd known where he was but Sirius hadn't had time to dwell on it as he sent counter-spells flying back in their direction, groceries dropping down to the ground beside him. He ducked into a doorway at the back end of the alley, flinching as a curse hit the wall beside him sending debris flying, and he took a chance to lean out and send one flying back. They weren't there to kill him, he knew that, they were only to stun him long enough to take him back to Voldemort where he was supposed to give up the Potters location. Funny thing that. He had no idea where James and Lily were since he wasn't their Secret-keeper, and even if he did he would never tell any of them where they were at. Another spell hit the side of the building, more brick crumbling away and Sirius knew that he was definitely back into a corner. Reaching down with his other hand, he felt around for the door knob and closed his fingers around it before turning it. A light smile broke out on his face as he sent another spell flying before he pushed the door in, and stepped inside just before another spell hit the other side of the door. Quickly he shut the door, not bothering to lock it though he did take a couple of cautious steps back though he paused as his the backs of his legs hit something. Turning around, his brows furrowed low over his eyes at the sight of a bed. No, check that, there were two beds in the room. Slowly his eyes scanned over the room, taking it all in and he was bloody sure that this was not the placed he'd entered mere seconds ago. Given that and the fact that he could hear distinct crying off in the distance, plus the place was moving and what the bloody hell was going on outside? He couldn't look out there for too long since the view made him feel sick. With his wand at the ready, Sirius stepped back towards the door, his breathing slow and steady as his ears strained to listen for anything. His body felt like it was vibrating from the adrenaline that was still pumping through his system and his heart was beating far too loudly in his ears as he jerked the door open. He glanced both ways down the hallway, brows furrowing once again as a look of pure confusion settled on his features. Curiously he turned to the door, noting his name and some bird's on it and quickly he shut the door as if that would actually help matters any. Maybe this was some sort of trick that the Death Eaters were pulling on him. He snorted at the thought, none of them were this creative, except for maybe Voldemort on a really good day or perhaps... Sirius shook his head, clearing his thoughts before he started going down - or at least what he assumed was down - the hallway. Cautiously he stepped into the next car, wand still at the ready in the event that someone thought it would be a good idea to attack him, and he looked up at every door as he passed. None of the names made any sense to him, none of them looked remotely familiar until he reached a door that read 506-A and he did recognize one of those names. Sirius hoped this wasn't an elaborate prank as he lifted a hand to knock firmly at the door. "Prongs? I swear to Merlin if you do not answer this door right now I'm turning your hair pink for a bloody week." He thought for a moment before he added, "Again." Still he held his wand tightly in his hand, only raised up to his waist though as he took a step back from the door, watching carefully to see who might emerge or if he'd luck out and it would be James behind that door. Assuming, that was, that James was actually in there. If Sirius didn't receive an answer, he'd just search the damned place over until he did find him. |
