In Motion
Characters: Jan, open (or dice)
When: Saturday evening
Location: library car
Warnings/Rating: none anticipated
Summary: Jan is restless
Status: Open, ongoing
Someone had moved a box of books from the baggage car (she assumed) to the library. It didn't look like anyone had gone through it, and Jan wondered if that was a task reserved for the people in charge of the train, or if anyone could do it. She wondered too if it was something that had been picked up at their stop, or if it had been displaced from the baggage car by something else. Glancing around, she didn't see anyone who looked particularly interested in the box. So with a little shrug, Jan crouched beside it. Carefully drawing the flap back, she peered at the contents. Lifting them out one at a time, she started to stack them by subject or classification, occasionally pausing to read the back or inside flap of one. There were a few that looked interesting, and those she set aside in a different pile for herself, so she could read them later. From her crouch, she rocked back a little until her rear was on the floor, and she shifted into a cross-legged position, opening a book on her lap. It was missing a jacket, and had no information on the front or back, so she thought she'd see what she could see about it. As she started to read, she thought it was some sort of fiction book, but it was interesting enough to catch her attention. She was caught up in the words quickly enough, sitting on the floor in front of an half-empty box of books, and surrounded by the other half of the contents in uneven stacks. |
