Time had seemed to slow down for Rachel since she'd stepped foot on the train. She was still trying to gather her bearings, figure out what it all meant even though she'd been there for nearly a week without speaking much to anyone. It wouldn't do her any good to whine and cry about what she felt, or how she felt rather, via the net since...well it just wouldn't be a good idea. She missed home. That in and of itself was a surprise to her since Rachel Berry never thought she'd ever miss Lima, Ohio of all places. Mostly though she missed Finn, Kurt and the rest of the New Directions crew and she wanted nothing more than to take a step back in time and be with all of them again. As it was though, Rachel couldn't do that, come to that there was apparently no way off the train and she? Well she was determined to make the best of it. Well, later when she felt more like herself instead of a blubbering mess which she was sure wouldn't impress anyone. Her nightly routine had been thrown off from the first night on the train, and Rachel found she wasn't sleeping as much as she once had been. There were dark circles starting to form under her eyes, which was horrible, but try as she might she could only catch a few hours of sleep here and there. Most of her time recently had been spent in the entertainment car, watching old movies curled up on the couch with her coat thrown over her bare legs to keep them warm. It was the same routine tonight, or whatever hour it was since she had no idea what the actual time was there, but she did know it was dark out. Rachel cradled her cheek in her hand as she watched the ever stunning Barbra in Hello, Dolly!. The movie wasn't one of her favorite Barbra movies, but it was actually helping her feel better as she sat there with her eyes glued on the screen, mouth moving a long with the dialogue and the musical numbers though - even as much as she wanted to - she never actually uttered a sound. The opening of the door to the compartment did register though, and quickly Rachel turned her head, hoping that maybe, just maybe someone she knew would magically walk right on through. Disappointment quickly darkened her features, and there was a visible slump to her shoulders at the tall, blonde man there who she didn't recognize. Rachel really was determined to make her time count though, perhaps the way she should be looking at things wasn't the way she had been looking at them. This was the chance at a fresh start, even if it wasn't the sort of fresh start she'd had in mind when she'd boarded the train in Lima, but it was still a chance and life was worth living. Swallowing whatever doubts she had, Rachel stood, putting her coat off to the side before she made her way to the man. Putting on her best smile, Rachel stuck her hand out to him. "I'm Rachel Berry, new to the train and I'm still trying to figure everything out but my dads always used to say that introductions to new people are very important since you never know what may or may not come out of meeting someone new." She kept her eyes on his face, along with the bright smile she'd put on earlier and she hoped that her greeting would be well received. |
