Status: unfinished
Mitchell held onto the mug in his hands. Zombies! Freaking zombies! Eyes ripped wide open stared at hostile world surrounding the train. George was gone. Maryanne was gone. The hunger was back. And now there were zombies outside. One decent world! Was it too much to ask for? He just wanted off this freaking train. The train wouldn’t, couldn’t(!) take someone else from him. Rage and grief created an explosive cocktail inside his body. He wanted to tear the place apart and that treacherous monster wanted to start with every human on the fucking train. They smiled at him and he wanted to claw the smile off their faces. For a couple of days he had felt what true happiness meant. Now it was all gone. A life he would never lead. Everything was just too much. Life had looked as if it could have been normal. Even without humanity. But comfort obviously wasn’t meant for them. Why was he fighting all his life when nothing good ever lasted? How long till the train took Annie as well?
The muscles on his face hardened and his grip tightened. If the train ever would, he would stop caring. He doubted that he could make this any more hell than it already was.
The moment the thought had passed, he regretted it. He couldn't go back. He wouldn't go back. Annie wouldn't want him to. It wasn't him anymore. He didn't want to be him anymore. His shoulders sagged and he glanced halfheartedly at his coffee. Jesus, he wanted all of this to stop.
