Settling in
Characters: Ash, Snow
When: Sunday morning
Location: Front dining car
Warnings/Rating: None anticipated
Summary: Ash eats breakfast, contemplates her situation, and meets another newcomer
Status: !dice
While Ash had gotten the basics of the place from a few different people, she still didn't like what she was hearing. She was kidnapped, trapped, and there was no way home. She'd gleaned from the (apparently new) vocalization on her device that rescue wasn't something she should count on, and that irritated her, too. But she understood all about lack of funding and sometimes humped was humped and you just had to ride it out. She'd been assured she should be safe on the train, and that here was no reason to walk around armed -- but she did anyway. Old habits died hard, and her weaponry was part of her attire. She was still wearing the outfit she'd shown up in, though she'd at least selected a couple other shirts from the baggage car. Settled into a seat with a bowl of some sort of frosted, artificially flavored cereal (it was surprisingly good for something that didn't have an ounce of real fruit in it) in front of her, Ashley was eating and thumbing through the posts on the network. It was like and not like similar systems at home, and she'd admit to using it to try to contact Fletcher or Richard. It hadn't happened, of course, and she reasoned there wouldn't have been any reason it should have. It was disappointing. She still had more questions, and she wasn't satisfied with the answers she had gotten -- they'd just bred more questions. There was no reason for the kidnapping, no rescue, no way home unless the train decided to send you there. They were apparently headed to a point in her world's distant past -- to Earth that Was, before the migration. It should be interesting to see. Shifting her weight slightly, Ashley pushed the now-empty bowl aside as she continued to thumb through the network. She occasionally studied the little pictures that went with each post to try to get a sense of the people here. It was bound to be an adventure -- she just wished someone from her crew was here, too. |
