Honestly, she wasn't sure why she'd done it. Not completely. They had their routine, their training sessions, their ... truce, or whatever it was. They talked a little, but Ice thought there was some unspoken agreement that they wouldn't discuss home with each other. There, they were on opposite sides of the fence, after all. But here, here it was different. Here, they were just two people who'd happened to cross paths and ... well, she liked to think they were getting along fairly well, given their backgrounds. If she'd met him at home ... well, it would have been a very different situation. Until she'd moved into her own room, Ice didn't realize just how isolated she was here. She'd grown accustomed to Tristan's company, and to the sound of someone else breathing in the room at night while she slept. Or silently coped with insomnia -- whichever the case may have been. Sleeping in the room alone had shed some light on just how she'd come to rely on another person's presence. She wouldn't deny the fact she'd toyed with the idea of asking Gale if he had a roommate -- or wanted one. She knew that was a ridiculous scenario; if he was interested in keeping their training quiet, she couldn't envision any scenario in which he'd want to risk the train putting his name on a door with her own. So she'd dismissed the idea out of hand and hadn't pursued it. Still, she did think that she wanted a roommate, if only to be able to count on having another person present. Shaking off those thoughts -- they weren't doing her any good right now -- Ice made her way to the back car. She regarded the door for a moment before she exhaled and pulled it open. Predictably enough, the room didn't display anything worth using. With a sigh, she shut the door and began the process of opening the door, peeking inside, and closing the door when the room wasn't what she was looking for. |
