Ice couldn't honestly say she'd been surprised by Tristan's request. They'd been assigned to the same room after the resort, she assumed, because she hadn't selected a room before the train started to move. She'd been wandering the hallways, and then her name had been on a door along with Tristan's. He'd been nice enough to have as a roommate, and she hadn't bothered to try an empty. Better the wizard you knew than the stranger you didn't. After Tris had asked, she'd given half a second's thought to posting a request for a roommate on the network before she'd changed her mind. She didn't know many people on board, and those she did ... well, she doubted they'd be interested in rooming together. She was a little amused by the fact someone else from her world would be moving in, and she thought that might have been a little bit ironic, or something. Trading a Peacekeeper for a Tribute. Either way, it didn't matter. She'd have her own room until the train threw someone into it. Finding a room nearby that had no names on the door, Ice peered in. It didn't look like anyone was using it, but she knew that was hard to say. She didn't know who was sleeping in the spares, or which spares they were using. Maybe this one had just been vacated today; she didn't really keep track of the comings and goings of the others. She didn't really keep track of much at all. She hadn't acquired a lot of things, but it still took her two trips to move them all. After she'd dumped everything on one of the beds, she looked around the room. She felt an undefinable touch of melancholy, and she guessed Tristan had been some company. She wasn't sure she wanted to be alone again. Her thoughts started to drift before she promptly derailed them; she was sure there wasn't anyone on board who'd want to room with her. Leaving the door open in case anyone curious passed by, Ice began to put her things away and to make the room something like her own -- at least until she reached a point where she had to share again. |
