Magnus could not catch a break. These damn Shadowhunters and their constant drama. Drama, mind you, which Magnus was constantly sorting out for FREE. It hadn’t even been 48 hours since he had gotten back to his beloved apartment in New York City after the whole Mortal War debacle before he had one Simon Lewis banging down his door and carrying on to him about how he’d somehow managed to lose Clary on his way back from Idris. With a resigned sigh, Magnus had invited the little vampire in and spent the entirety of the following day and night trying to locate what had happened to Clarissa “constantly throws herself into danger despite better judgement” Fray. Once he’d finally managed to send Simon off on his little rescue mission, Magnus had just enough time to change into something more comfortable with a snap of his fingers and collapse face first onto his mattress beside Chairman Meow before he heard the distinct sound of the front door lock being turned. Even though he already knew who it was (no one else had a key to his apartment after all) Magnus still let out a frustrated groan into his pillow. “Alexander if you are not coming in here to sleep with me, and I do mean just sleep then I suggest that you turn right back around,” he called out before Alec even made it inside, his voice muffled by the pillow in which his face was still firmly buried. His surly attitude shifted however the instant his boyfriend entered the bedroom and informed him that his parabatai Jace had also not returned with them from Idris. If had been anyone else, Magnus would have ordered them away and insisted that they deal with their problems on their own for once, but because it was Alec and because of all of the trauma the Shadowhunter had just recently endured, Magnus could not refuse him. Reluctantly hauling himself up and out of bed he took Alec by the hand and dragged him back into the living room where he tiredly set about repeating the exact same process he had just gone through with Simon. It had become quite clear that some kind of outside force was interfering with the portals and he needed to get to the bottom of it. Which was precisely why this time around he decided to go himself rather than send Alec off on his own. The two argued about the idea for several minutes. Alec wanted to accompany him but Magnus knew that it would be better for him to stay behind. “Alec, listen to me. Your family has been through enough as it is. Stay here, look after the cat for me. I’ll be back as soon as possible, I promise,” he tried to reassure him, pressing a soft kiss to Alec’s forehead before turning to step into the portal he had just conjured. Just as he was entering the portal opening however, he felt a hand suddenly grip his wrist impossibly tight. Before he could protest he was already opening his eyes to find himself standing in an unfamiliar bedroom. Magnus instantly wheeled around to find Alec standing behind him, the portal already starting to fade. “Alexander Lightwood! “I cannot believe you just did that!” Magnus exclaimed without hesitation, wrenching his arm free of the Nephilim’s anxious grasp. Damn these Shadowhunters! |
