Characters: Trish Wellington and Harley Quinn
When: Thursday Evening
Location: The rearmost kitchen car
Warnings/Rating: None!
Summary: Harley has a late-night baking frenzy
Status: Closed/Ongoing

((I'm so sorry it took me so long to get this up; work went kind of insane this week!))

Harley had been taken by another Cooking Mood that evening. Most of the rest of the train seemed to have settled down for the night; but she was in the mood for cupcakes, and maybe other people would be too!

The several muffin tins she'd managed to scrounge from the kitchens were sitting in a haphazard row along one counter, already floured and greased. Bags of ingredients - and various types of Train Candy she'd found - sat nearby; and Harley hummed a little to herself, stirring a chocolatey goop vigorously in a big bowl. There was a smudge of flour over her nose.

“Yeah, if we had vampires back in my world they really didn’t make themselves known. I thought vampires were just characters in movies to scare people, but the vampires on here are not in a movie,” though that thought made Trish wonder if vampires were back in her world. For all she knew, her old neighbor could have been one without Trish even knowing. The whole idea was a little creepy to think she could have talked to vampires at some point in her life and not even know it.

Trish wasn’t much of a cook, but she did know how to clean dishes because the cooks and maid usually had Trish clean off her own dishes when she had food. They figured no harm in letting her do that, but that was about all she was good for unless you count microwaveable stuff. “I can help with the dishes if you want? That was all the people would really allow me to do in the kitchen when I was growing up so I don’t mind,” she said with a small laugh. “So if you want the help, I’m fine with the boring stuff. At least with the boring stuff I can’t kill innocent people.”

Biting her bottom lip, she pushed her dark hair behind her ear as she tried to decide which way she wanted to go. “I can stick around for a bit. Not like I was up to anything exciting so I’ll keep you company then help with frosting them,” yeah, that gave her something to do and if this girl was fine with letting her frost who was she to argue?

Well, Harley definitely wasn't going to turn down help with the boring bits. "Sure! If you want." She moved up the counter, stacking the dishes she'd been using, and carrying them to the sink.

Her hand was halfway to the tap when Trish let drop the big about 'killing innocent people,' and Harley paused, her head turning slowly to look at the girl. Yeah, Harls wasn't the most innocent girl on the block. She'd done her fair share of bad things. But she- she didn't really come out and just say 'em like that. Even to the people she'd shared with the most.

Was it a joke? Was it some kinda confidence? What did you say to that?

She blinked, and turned back to the faucet, turning it on to full blast and as hot as it would go, to fill the sink. "Well," she said, trying to sound lighthearted, "Who hasn't killed some innocent people in their time. You wanna wash or dry?"

It didn’t even dawn on Trish that some people might think she actually killed innocent people and wasn’t making a stupid joke about her cooking. The idea of her killing anyone wasn’t something she thought about until recently but that was only one person. What she wouldn’t give to kill Henry for what he did to her? Then again thinking it and doing it were two different things. The thought of Henry actually showing up on this train was her biggest fear because he might try to rekill her or just kill her again to get rid of her on the train. Great, now she was going to think about that!

Moving off the chair, she moved over to the sink, “I can dry. People who actually know how to cook probably haven’t ever killed anyone.” A small laugh left her lips as she gave a small shrug. “I’m a little dangerous in the kitchen when cooking is involved,” Trish never saw it as a big deal until now. Back home she had the cooks at her father’s house then when she moved out her best friend became take out. Here on the train though, she couldn’t just call for a pizza causing her to wish that she knew how to cook. “Did you do anything cooking wise back in your world or was more of a just for fun type of thing?”

"Oh, there's lots of ways to kill someone," Harley returned, as cheerful as ever, "Cooking is only one option! Subtle, but not so hands-on."

She scrubbed at the bowl for a minute, pigtails bobbing the water slowly turned the vague color of chocolate. "Oh, I cooked all the time. My mom worked a lot when I was a kid, and I had a little brother to keep an eye on. And then for my boyfriend, and his friends. And now- well, now before now, if you know what I mean- I cooked for my roomies, when they let me." She wrinkled her nose a little as she smiled, and dunked the bowl in the water.

"You should learn to cook though. Okay, so maybe you'll set somethin' on fire and maybe a person or two'll die screaming in agony, but you can't break an omelet without making eggs, right?" Harley beamed at the other girl. She was joking- mostly.

“Is that so? And how would you know that?” Trish figured maybe some tv show considering the things they had on tv was rather interesting. Maybe they had a show on things like that and it was how Harley knew that. Then again it was also common sense with some of the ways to kill a person though the talk was causing Trish to get slightly uncomfortable. Brought back the memories of Harper’s Island and how a person could fool everyone around them just to get their guards down.

The change of topic to how the woman used to cook caused Trish to relax just a tiny bit. “Yeah, I would say you were cooking all the time. I never really had to learn or had that issue of whether I would have dinner ready so I didn’t learn,” she really didn’t want to bring up how she had people who worked for her dad that had done that. Trish might have come from money, but she knew people seemed to think ones who came from a lot of money were stuck up when she really wasn’t. Trish might have had stuck up friends, but she wasn’t like that at all. “How often did they let you?” She asked with a small laugh.

“The problem is with everyone in a closed up space and everything I figure it’s just safer to stick to the not cooking. I can find things that don’t need cooking like a salad and stuff,” she was more afraid of what she might break or what might happen if she tried to learn how to cook. The idea of setting things on fire or something was only the tip of the iceberg in her mind. “I could become all popular on the train as the girl with the killer cooking skills,” she said with a small laugh. Where that was a joke, she also meant it in a way because she believed that would be the ending result of her cooking.
