Even though it had been over a week since the amnesia nightmare, Alex was still spending most of her time keeping an eye on Hal. Between the amnesia itself and the fact that he'd had blood straight from the source as it were, Hal was definitely off. She'd been yelled and sworn at, but that was becoming old-hat by now. His withdrawal had not been a pleasant thing to witness though and Alex had mustered up a small amount of sympathy for him while he was shivering or cramping or otherwise struggling. She'd even brought him blankets and given them both some time off. Amongst all of that though, Hal had had some nicer moments as well. It was all rather up and down really. But nicer moments or not, Alex still found herself needing a break. So she'd organised another Hal-sitter and had decided to see if Maggie was up for some sweet research. Alex had sent Maggie a message about right now being the opportune moment to do some some of that research, if she was still up for it. It wasn't so much research, though, as an invitation for Maggie to witness the side effects as Alex tried to eat as many of the sweets as she could manage. Being a ghost, Alex didn't normally have the luxury of being able to eat. So she'd been taking full advantage of her ability to do so with the cursed candy, regardless of what any of it did to her. This had seen a few moments during her Hal-sitting become more amusing than they actually were. She'd decided that the snack kitchen was a good place to start. As the name suggested, it was full of a smaller, more snack-like fare than the two main kitchens. So why wouldn't it be well stocked with the sweets? If for some reason it wasn't, one of the parlour cars wasn't too far away. Alex had eaten a butterscotch on the way down the train and her hair had come out looking like someone wanted to make her into a human candle. It went from red to orange to yellow, even in the space of her small pixie cut. Upon reaching the kitchen, Alex looked around for some suspect looking sweets. She decided the sherbet sweets looked a little ominous and queued one up for when her hair decided to wear off and Maggie had arrived. |
