Jaime shrugged. "Once upon a time, maybe. Here ... I dunno. Here it doesn't really matter. If someone tells me they can turn green and pop spikes out of their back, I'm content to assume they can. And if they can't, well, it doesn't really impact me either way. If they feel better telling fibs, that's their deal.
"Unless, you know, for some reason I need them to turn green and sprout spikes and it turns out they lied. Then I guess I'd be pissed." She exhaled. "And I wouldn't say everyone who can do this sort of thing's my friend," she continued.
She also wanted to say that she didn't think people lied about their abilities, but as she hadn't asked for demonstrations from all of them, she guessed she couldn't say that with confidence. There wasn't much of a reason to, but people lied for no reason, she knew.
So she shrugged and held her wand out slightly to one side. As he hadn't yes or no'd her offer of towels-to-cards, she thought she'd wait and see if he had any requests to start off. Otherwise, she'd start with the pool water and go from there.
