Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!open, {john sheppard, {lady marian

Characters: Marian, Open
When: Week two of Robin not remembering. On her birthday.
Location: The Chance car.
Warnings/Rating: None really, will update as needed
Summary: Marian is taking her frustration out in target practice.
Status: Open! ongoing!

Marian propped open the door wide, after finding the room she had wanted. It seemed to be the only thing that the train had not added while they were at the resort, an archery range. Though she was sure that people find other uses for it. But for now it was perfect for her cause.

A quiver near bursting with arrows, strapped to her back. She chose a recurve bow that was provided by the room. She only slightly regretted that she had not picked up one for herself at the resort. Sure she probably could have borrowed Robin's, but with the way he was reacting to the memory loss, she didn't feel right to.

Of course it would be her luck that he wouldn't remember, on her birthday. But he didn't remember that they were engaged either. A day, she'd had a day.

There were quite a few arrows that littered the wall behind the target across the room from her. And she would argue with anyone who said that it wasn't done on purpose. It was her attempt to inflict pain on the train. "Of course, Marian, what's another birthday come and gone that hadn't been forgotten." She murmured to herself. For the past few years it seemed only her father was there to remember, anyway.

John hadn't really gotten around to trying out this "chance" car that Rose had mentioned. He'd kind of laughed when she'd said that it turned into whatever it was that you wanted. But Rose was also off with Sookie or Anna or. . .one of the girls she spent so much time with, which left him an afternoon free.

It seemed like a good time to try out this room that turned into whatever it was you wanted. Or however it worked.

John slowed down as he came up on the room to find that the door was standing open. As he got close enough to look in, he could see a young woman. . apparently practicing with a bow and arrow.

Said woman was also talking to herself. After a moment, John reached up an knocked on the side of the doorfacing to let the woman know he was there. "Hello?"

The knock and male voice shocked her out of her own thoughts, enough so that the shot she made went wide right, and missed the target entirely. She wasn't normally so bad, of course, and there were quite a few arrows in the target she'd been aiming for, most fairly close to the middle, to prove that. Wide blue eyes turned on the man at the door.

"Hello. Sorry, I forgot I left that open, should anyone wish to get a bit of target practice." Surely he had not heard her having a conversation with herself... Had he? That wasn't exactly a first impression she wished to make on anyone.

She set the end of the bow against the ground and rest her hand upon it. Willing her heart slow down once again.

John winced when he realized he'd made her miss her target. He also felt vaguely guilty that he seemed to have made her jump.

"Sorry," he said. "Didn't mean to startle you."

He looked around the room at the target and then at her quiver and arrows. "People kept mentioning the magic room, so I wanted to look at it."

And when he said "people", he meant Rose, although, no. . .he was pretty sure Sookie had mentioned it once as well. But the point was he'd never SEEN the room and had thought it would be kind of cool.

Marian forced a bit of a smile. "It's alright, I should have been expecting someone to show up. Or at least been paying a little more attention. The train likes to..." Well it should be obvious, by now, to anyone what the train liked to do. When you least expected it.

"Oh, I can show you how it works if you like." She shoved the bow into the rack the near bursting quiver next to it. The things belonged to the room, not to her. Unfortunately. "One rule, if there are any, is you can't remove anything from the room if it was in there to begin with. Anything you take in you want to take it back out with you otherwise it will disappear, most like." She tried not to take anything that belonged to her, weapon wise, into the chance car.
