She’d noticed this morning as she’d tried to brew something ridiculously simple, that she couldn’t. She was following all the steps -- it was one they happened to have a book for, and she double-checked even though she’d brewed it a hundred times. She thought maybe she’d lost her magic like Sev and Jaime had, but she could do other things just fine. It was just potions. She’d tried it twice, but in the interest of not wasting what ingredients they had left, she’d stopped there. It was vexing, honestly. With Severus completely incapable of magic, and herself now crippled, she wondered who it would fall to to brew for the train. She supposed there were plenty of people she could ask, but it wasn’t the same. Maybe there wouldn’t be a need to, until at least one of them had had their power restored. Still, it made her uneasy. Hallucinations, and even wasps, were one thing. But this was affecting a fundamental part of their selves. How could it take away or block or … whatever it was doing to their power? She didn’t know, and it unnerved her. Drawing out her wand, she cleaned up the area then shifted the protective wards off the top of the dresser before she began to put the remaining ingredients back into the trunk. Settling the cauldron into the middle of it, Lily sighed faintly. Well, wasn’t this just a fantastic start to the day? |
