Cutter had torn the book up on the Jurassic Period (almost literally) days ago, and had now embarked on his own work on the subject, based on observations from the train. If he returned to his own time he would publish the definitive book, if any of his peers believed a word of what he'd written. He wondered if he would be able to save the photographs he'd taken on the iphone-thing for publication, though even then the scientists he knew, with one or two exceptions, would be sure to think the pictures were faked. Nick forwarded them to his email account all the same, just in case. It was the plant-life that was the most breath-taking, despite his own specialty in evolutionary biology. Whatever you could find in a fossilised stomach tissue only gave indication of form and structure. Nothing could prepare him for the colour and diversity of the species he saw from the train. Cutter wasn't entirely sure he wanted to return, his experience so far, despite one or two moments that had given him the willies, had been positive. He hoped it would continue to be that way. Almost in answer to his thoughts he heard the door open and looked over to see a young woman enter. He nodded to her and smiled, "if you haven't checked out the view, you should," he said gesturing to the chair opposite him. "Nick Cutter, I don't think we've met," he offered her a hand. |
