Characters: Buffy Summers and open
When: Early Sunday Evening
Location: Chance Car
Warnings/Rating: Low right now will change if need be.
Summary: Buffy is bored and has decided to try to get her abilities to work again.
Status: open and ongoing

Buffy couldn’t take hiding in the room anymore and hoping for her powers to come back. No, she still had her moves considering the whole being a cheerleader for so long. It was just everything else that was gone causing her to lose her mind. How much longer could this go on for? Since losing her abilities she had stayed away from working out because the whole hitting a punching bag without gloves actually hurt her. Now that she finally got her wish of being a normal girl, she found herself feeling lost without her abilities. Mitchell wasn’t around to help her out or for her to talk with, but she could take care of herself. Last time she lost her powers, she managed to put up a fight even if it was a lot harder than normal.

The idea of taking the scythe had crossed her mind, but she didn’t need to take that out while still being powerless. Instead she went to the chance car and played with the door until getting a room with some targets on it and a few knives, swords, and other sharp weapons. Buffy left the door open just for the hell of it even if it probably wasn’t the smartest idea when she couldn’t sense people showing up behind her. Stepping over to the knives, she thought about starting big but with her abilities out she figured smaller was the better option. Picking up three she moved so she was in front of the target, taking a deep breath as she closed her eyes and tossed a knife at the target. The sound of them hitting the floor caused her to groan before opening her eyes to see that the knife had gone under the target. A sigh left her lips as she tried again with her eyes open to see how far it went. Normally she could hit the target without even looking but she wasn’t even getting close. For once the saying fit that she threw like a girl.

Buffy noticed the hesitance from the other woman causing her to raise an eyebrow, but she didn’t think much about it. Everyone was a bit on edge as of late with people losing their abilities, powers, and whatever else they could lose causing everyone to be on guard. Or at least some of the people she knew including herself. As far as Buffy was concern unless given a reason she wasn’t going to hurt anyone even if right now she really couldn’t.

That word tribute caused her to bite her bottom lip in thought since she remembered that word from someone else. Oh yeah, that kid who she had fought in the workout room for a little sparing. “Oh you’re from that guy Cato I think his name is world?” She was trying to remember if she had the name right. “No offense but I think the stuff from your world kind of blows,” she really didn’t think about it much on how these people felt. Buffy only knew what it was like to be destined for something only she never really found enjoyment out of it. For all she knew one night she could go on patrol and end up dead from a vampire. Buffy remembered how she had been trying to get Cato to realize how much fun being a normal teen was since Buffy had been determined to enjoy that life while doing her duty. “I’m Buffy by the way,” she introduced herself while standing back slightly curious to see how good the girl was with her knives.

"Yeah," Glimmer said as she stepped close to the target. "Same place. We've kind of gotten used to hearing that. Guess you can't really be expected to get it if you don't live there." Though, if she were honest with herself (which she wasn't often, because it just got confusing and painful after too long), anymore she was thinking things in Panem sort of sucked sometimes, too.

"Buffy. I'm Glimmer." Even if she hadn't been holding a knife, it wouldn't have crossed her mind to extend any other sort of gesture. So, she just turned her attention to the task at hand. She wasn't as good as Clove, she knew that from what she'd seen of the other girl's skill in the Arena. But she was still good. She adjusted her stance slightly before drawing her arm back and sending the knife slicing the air. It didn't meet the bulls-eye, but it did pierce one of the inner rings.

Even if she'd done this many times before, Glimmer couldn't hold back a smile, though she tamped it down quickly before turning to look back at Buffy.

Buffy knew it was rude of her considering this was their world and what they knew. Only at the same time she knew what it was like to have to do something that put your life on the line. The difference was hers wasn’t dealing with people around her own age, but vampires that were sometimes twice her age. “No, I get that because it isn’t my world. But I mean the whole being expected to die or possible die at such a young age. I know how much that can suck and to know a world ends up or something like is depressing,” she really had no idea when their place came into place or when the world went to shit like that.

“Nice to know I’m not the only one walking around with an odd name,” it was a stupid small joke considering people were always making comments about her name. It was anything mean just pointing out how it was nice for once. Buffy noticed how she didn’t extend her arm or anything so she didn’t put her hand out like she normally would have. As Glimmer went up to take a turn, Buffy glanced over her stance before nodding when she at least hit the target. “Nice shot,” she commented. Yes, she was frustrated with the whole lack of power, but she wasn’t going to be that childish over someone still having their gifts.

Glancing at Glimmer when she turned caused a small smile, “I guess the train decided to not screw with you this round or just hasn’t hit you yet.” Some people were now losing their powers so she wasn’t quite sure when people would lose them. All she cared about were hers coming back soon.

Glimmer shrugged slightly. "I don't know. It was...an honor for me and Cato." There wasn't the resolve there might have been in her voice before she came here, though. It was getting harder to believe that, with the possibility of more out there for them.

"I guess it's pretty different from most the people around here. But it's nothing special back home. And neither's that," she waved off to the target. "I mean, I'm good, but I'm not Clove. She was something else with knives."

She made a little snorting sound, "But, yeah. I'm--I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't fight." And she wasn't just speaking as a Tribute, now. The idea of being helpless, like some of the other girls here...it horrified her.

Buffy still found it to be sick to know people at some point or more the younger generation at some point fight for their lives to bring pride to their town. “Yeah, like I said it’s your world. For me it sucked to be given a destiny or whatever that could end up with you dead at a young age,” she said with a shrug. Then again Buffy had been killed twice almost three times and wasn’t all that much fun.

“I grew up in….” she went to say California but then she remembered the world was different for them so she probably had no idea what that even meant. “I grew up in an area where people had some weird names. I got the weird name where my sister had a more normal name,” she commented with a small laugh. “So what if it’s nothing special back home? You should still be proud that you can hit the target unlike me right now,” she pointed out. Then again if it’s for a fight to the death you better make sure you’re damn good. “Was she? I was or am decent with all weapons but right now I’m like a whole different person.” Yeah, she was pretty much the girl she had been before they told her a slayer minus the whole shallow and popular part.

Shaking her head, she shrugged slightly. “Lucky you. My fighting is what kept me alive for the most part with some people that right now I’m feeling rather defenseless. Only good part is no one seems to want me dead on this train,” that was the only plus right now. If a vampire from her world or any demon from her world showed up and wanted her dead they would probably win. “It’s weird when you’ve grown use to whatever it is the train took from you. How is Cato doing?” Even though the guy annoyed her to no end or didn’t seem to catch a hint at what Buffy said, she still wanted to make sure he was doing alright.

Glimmer smiled a bit at the compliment, though it grew the slightest bit quivery at the mention of Cato.

"Um, Cato's...good? I mean, he's still running his damn mouth and getting himself into fights that could be avoided, but that's Cato." Truth be told, she was still a bit rattled from when he'd gotten his dumb ass shot by that Katniss brat. And if Glimmer was still sort of tempted to go deal with that, and she wasn't sure why. Wasn't like Cato couldn't take care of himself and his own troubles. But him getting hurt...she hadn't liked it at all.

"Sort of why I'm glad neither of us have lost our training or any of that stuff. Enough people might want to have it in for him, don't like the idea of either of us being defenseless."

A small laugh left Buffy’s lips, “Why doesn’t that surprise me? He likes to cause problems, huh?” Some people were the type that enjoyed fighting. Buffy could hold her own normally, but she didn’t go looking for fights unless she was having a bad day and even then she tried to avoid that. “His mouth might get him in trouble, but I doubt anyone is actually going to kill him even if some might want to think about it,” she didn’t mean that in a bad way. Buffy even at one point wanted to smack him, but she didn’t think much about it.

“Yeah, I mean I have only one person I didn’t really get along with, but I doubt he’ll do anything so even with my powers out. So he might have earned him some people who are not a huge fan of him, but I don’t think people will do anything on the train,” she commented. Buffy hadn’t heard about anything bad so she figured people tried to play nice even with ones they didn’t get along with. Easier to just play nice for a bit than cause problems on a stupid train. “Though I’m glad you two managed to keep your training.” Buffy might not have been all for their ways, but she wouldn’t wish the power loss on her worse enemy.
