He meditated, ignoring the world around him. It made it easier to sink into meditation with some background noise. He felt fairly safe on the train these days, and so he would choose a car like this, when fewer people were in it, but not none, and settle to meditate.
Bruce was slowly gaining more control over his situation, slowly gaining more of an upper hand. He had found the key recently in something his other half had said, about being angry. Bruce had experienced a lot of problems controlling Hulk for so long because he was so angry about a lot of the things in his life. And that anger had interfered with him becoming, and staying, calm. Until Hulk had mentioned being angry in a context that snapped a lightbulb in Banner's thoughts.
What if the secrets wasn't not getting angry? what if the secret was simply not letting anger control him? What if anger became the rule, not the exception, and was accepted, even welcomed. And what if, to the core of it, anger was redirected to give strength to control?
Basing some new ideas on that, Banner was meditating on his anger, on accepting who he was, and what he felt, both as Banner and as the other guy. He smiled as he meditated, for he felt his blood surging and singing, and he felt anger, but he did not feel tense. And that made all the difference.
He heard someone nearby, closer than the rest, and, satisfied with how much he had don so far, he opened his eyes, looking for the person who was close enough to trigger his senses.
