Who: Bruce Banner and Annie Cresta
What: Random Encounters.
Where: Forward dining car
When: Afternoon
Warnings/Ratings: TBD
Status: Closed and Ongoing

He meditated, ignoring the world around him. It made it easier to sink into meditation with some background noise. He felt fairly safe on the train these days, and so he would choose a car like this, when fewer people were in it, but not none, and settle to meditate.

Bruce was slowly gaining more control over his situation, slowly gaining more of an upper hand. He had found the key recently in something his other half had said, about being angry. Bruce had experienced a lot of problems controlling Hulk for so long because he was so angry about a lot of the things in his life. And that anger had interfered with him becoming, and staying, calm. Until Hulk had mentioned being angry in a context that snapped a lightbulb in Banner's thoughts.

What if the secrets wasn't not getting angry? what if the secret was simply not letting anger control him? What if anger became the rule, not the exception, and was accepted, even welcomed. And what if, to the core of it, anger was redirected to give strength to control?

Basing some new ideas on that, Banner was meditating on his anger, on accepting who he was, and what he felt, both as Banner and as the other guy. He smiled as he meditated, for he felt his blood surging and singing, and he felt anger, but he did not feel tense. And that made all the difference.

He heard someone nearby, closer than the rest, and, satisfied with how much he had don so far, he opened his eyes, looking for the person who was close enough to trigger his senses.

Annie was comfortable on the train, more comfortable than she had expected to be when first arriving. Though she was far from knowing everyone around her, she felt safe, and that went a long way toward her psyche.

Arriving in the dining car, there were a few people around, though one caught Annie's eye- a man who was sitting quietly, his eyes closed. She knew- she knew- that she shouldn't disturb him, and just as she'd resolved to ignore him despite her curiosity, his eyes opened.

"Oh- oh, I'm sorry to have disturbed you, sir."

"No worries. I'm not disturbed." Bruce smiled at her, the smile of a man at peace, at least for the moment. His voice was gentle, warm, and rolling with personal humor.

"I'm Bruce Banner, one of the doctors here. I don't think I've noticed you before." He offered her his hand, still smiling, eyes warm. He felt peaceful, up, and full of good cheer and warmth, almost like his little session had renewed his energy. If a short session could do that, he wondered what longer ones could do, and filed it away to try.

His voice and manner reassured Annie, though she still felt her cheeks flushing at having been caught this way. "Annie- Cresta. Annie Cresta," she repeated, with more confidence, gently shaking Bruce's hand. "I- I'm not a doctor. I'm just a girl."

"A pleasure to meet you, Miss Cresta." He cocked his head to the side. "We are all of us special in our own way, with talents and abilities all our own. Just because you are not a doctor does not make you 'just' anything." He smiled to her to lessen the, well lesson.

"Have you been on the train long?" He shook her hand and waved a hand at the table. "Join me if you like."

Annie nodded, slowly. His words made sense, though things like that- compliments of most any kind- tended to take some time to truly sink in with her. It was easier to think less of herself, sometimes.

"Two months, I think," she replied, after a moment's thought. "It is- I like it much more than home. What about you, Doctor Banner?"

He smiled to her, enjoying the distraction. "Well, I've been here Almost three months. And i like it a great deal better than home. I find... this place is a lot nicer than home was."

He rubbed his chin, noting he needed to shave again. The train and the people therein was giving him a place to be more himself, to relax and study himself, and to give back to others, as well. He could be him, and the other guy, both, and not lose himself in some constant running game.

It was nice.

"I come from a home situation that ws rather unpleasant, so this is a lot better for me. And here, I can wpork in the infirmary and help other people."
