Marian was glad for the stop even if the port was rather dangerous. She donned most of the Night Watchman garb, and nearly every weapon she'd come with. She wasn't going to take any chances, even if most the men here were so drunk they were falling over. Her clothes weren't all that different from what the pirates were wearing. And for that she was glad. Though she would be sure to barter for one of the dresses. Even if they did show more than she was used to, she was sure one couldn't hurt. For now she was trying for enough clothes to outfit most of the train's people, enough so that they could venture out and get their own. She hadn't waited for anyone, or really told anyone she was going. Simply hoping most would wait for her to get back, after Lily's announcement. She made a good point. And Marian knew that she and Robin could probably get by without a change of clothes. But most of the others were from a more modern age. They wouldn't get away with the denim and the soft cotton shirts. Not if pirates were anything like the people of Nottingham would have been. It was surprisingly easy to lift things from the really drunk ones, and most of the people who were bartering honestly, well they were honest. And she used what she could, after changing some of the money she'd had on her at the front of the train. It didn't take long to amass enough shirts and trousers. Boots and hats would be a different story. There was no way she could guess at what fit whom. Let alone get all she had back without help. Marian considered pulling out her phone for a moment. But decided against it. At least not out in the open, and she wasn't about to leave the crates of clothes out in the open. And chances were good that most people were still sleeping. |
