Despite her vow not to let Connor out of her sight, Abby couldn't sit still with all the activity on the network. Connor had given her the best possible welcome - agreeing to marry her for the second time - and for the second time in 24hrs she'd thoroughly exhausted him. "Lightweight," she breathed softly into his sleeping ear before kissing it gently. She dragged her ipad onto the bed and started going through the network posts, and before long was itching to get out and see what all the fuss was about. Along with all the birds, bugs and general mayhem there seemed to be mythical beasts too - and there was no way on earth she could sleep through that! Abby texted a message to Connor's phone, so that he'd know she'd nipped out to explore, and then quickly dressed, making sure to grab her rucksack as she headed out the door. EMD drawn she headed towards the parlor car - reports of some kind of bird had been sighted there and if anyone was shooting rare species they'd have her to deal with! As she got closer she heard a shot and broke into a sprint. Rounding the doorway she expected to see a brawl, or other life or death situation. Instead she was pointing her EMD at a youngish man with dark hair, worker's clothes, jeans, and one of the most pissed off expressions she'd seen in a long time. Abby couldn't tell if it was to do with the ball of black feathers that had thudded to the floor as she entered, or because his glass seemed almost drained of the whiskey he was supping, whilst the smoking gun in his other hand completed the image. Great. Macho, drunk American! "You enjoy torturing animals, do you?" Abby's immediate instinct was to blast him with the EMD, give him a taste of his own medicine, but before she could reprimand him further an incredible sight passed by the window. In a shot she was pressed to the window like a little girl the first time it snowed - except this was better. So very much better! "Oh. My. God!! It's a dragon!" She turned to grin at the American, "a real dragon! This is incredible!!" |
