Trying something new

Summary: Sylvia attempts to bake.

Sylvia had never baked anything. Or cooked anything. Or even gone so far as to heat up her own food -- before she'd come here. They'd always had maids. Servants. Even her body guards were trained to do those sorts of things if she wanted them to. Here, someone at least cooked food, but Sylvia had seen a lot going on lately with baking. She'd tried one of the cookies that had been left on the counter, and they'd been good. She wondered if she could bake cookies. It couldn't be hard if a few kids could do it, right? She'd never done it. She'd never worked a stove on her own, but she was smart. She could figure out the washing machine. She could figure out the ovens. After she'd located a recipe book, Sylvia began to flip through the pages to try to find something easy to start with. She had the oven pre-heating (though she wasn't exactly sure what that meant) and everything looked simple, but she had a feeling it wasn't. Settling on sugar cookies since they looked pretty basic, she began to gather the things she'd need since it made sense to have things ready. Leaning over the counter, she started to read the instructions, her brow furrowing occasionally as she wondered if this was going to turnout well at all. She wasn't completely sure she understood everything, but what was life without a little risk? Rolling her shoulders, Syliva picked up the bowl to start on step one ... |
