"When a wizard is young, before he has completely attained the third level of mastery, and completed that level, he is more unbound, more able to freely disperse his magic, for it is not bound into forms and orders, nor into the ways of magics more subtle and strong. It is easier at such a time to call and make a familiar."
Magius sat back, and let go of the staff, and it stood once more unsupported as he looked inward, before nodding to her again, eyes bright. "Nonetheless, it is entirely possible to do the ritual at any time, should the wizard have the will to do so."
His lips quirked, and nodded. "Thank you." Switching tracks, he smiled. "How are you finding this strange train and your life here?"
