A Near Miss

Logan had been spending most of his time in his touring car. He'd had the usual visitors and one or two new ones ... and he guessed if what had happened had to happen with someone present, Jaime was probably the best choice of company. He'd smelled it on her first, but they'd both had the presence of mind to realize something was going on and to vacate the area. She'd gone to find her boyfriend (who she was now admitting was a boyfriend, and he was a little disappointed he'd lost that particular button to push) and he'd wandered around until the urge passed. It still disturbed him, and he'd be glad when this particular series of events was over. Granted, whatever the train had lined up for them next could be worse, especially if it actually had anything to do with those leaves. Not that he was worried for himself, but there were an awful lot of fragile, human sorts on board, and he didn't like what he was hearing. He just wondered if it was at this stop, or the next. Or if it would be on the train. On board seemed more likely, but he wasn't going to suggest that out loud, just in case the train was listening. He snorted faintly to his thoughts as he made his way into the dining car. He could hear people in the kitchen, and while he wasn't particularly in the mood to be social, he didn't think he'd be comfortable in his pheromone-touched touring car. Pulling a chair over near one of the windows, he slid a table to join it, setting his ashtray on the table before lighting one of his cigars. He was curious about the upcoming stop, and he hoped the island wasn't so small that he couldn't find some time alone. After this bout, he needed it. |
