It wasn’t long after Fenrir left that Sirius told Scabior he was just going to do a little searching of his own, that he’d let him know if he found anything good. What that meant? That he didn’t trust Fenrir out on his own, and he wanted to go and keep an eye on him. Once he was far enough away from the cabin he slipped into Padfoot, knowing if he had to think like a werewolf, he had to get more on his level. He’d had to do it in the past when Remus would get away from them, and he had to sniff him out, and not only that, it helped clear Sirius’ head a little. He had so much to think about right now, that sometimes he felt like it was all too much. A pregnant girlfriend. In the middle of a war. That he was working both sides of. And to top that off? Bellatrix was showing off about hurting Ginny, and the safe house sounded like it had exploded at the news. Now that Harry knew? Sirius knew there’d be no stopping him, no matter what he said. He couldn’t even hold it against Harry if he searched the earth to find Ginny…He knew he’d do the same for Embry.
He stopped when he came to Fenrir’s familiar scent, but it was stronger than normal, so quickly and silently he slipped back into his human body, and waited behind a tree. There was noise coming from a woman, and Sirius knew that Fenrir must be nearby, especially if there was human blood. Hearing the other man make his move, and the girl acknowledging his presence, he quickly jumped into action, coming from his hiding place where Fenrir was taking control of the situation.
“Do you like taking all the fun for yourself, Greyback?” He asked, rolling his eyes at him, and crossing his arms across his chest. “You could’ve gone out with the rest of us, but you just had to take all the glory, didn’t you? How selfish of you. Did you really think you’d find Potter all by yourself?” He wished he’d been the one to happen upon the woman. That way, he could’ve led them in a different direction, or hindered the group enough that anyone in the area could get away. But to let her get away now would be too difficult. Greyback would see him doing it, and start questioning his motives. “But if you insist on bringing in every waif and stray, even when they aren’t going to be worth anything, I suppose that’s up to you, let’s take her back.” He looked at the girl. “A few coins, maybe, depending on blood status. Let’s go.” He nodded in the direction of the cabin, trying to work out a plan as they moved. “What drew you to her anyway, old dog? She isn’t on our lists.”
