There was a pregnant pause before the toneless voice issued out again. "Understood."
He had gained little more than when he had first spoken to Wesker, and it made him vaguely uneasy. He had always been a man of nuance and subterfuge, and without the majority of human attachments, there was even less to go by.
The conversation had run dry, Wesker becoming more and more caustic. He would see the man soon, at any rate. There would be ample time to assess him further.
"We will be prepared."
He hung the phone up, still discomfited at the turn of events. No doubt Wesker wouldn't take it kindly that not only had he not been contacted on his own terms, but he was cut off with little more than a sparse acknowledgment of the threat he possessed.
It didn't matter. There was too much still to be done.
