Spencer knew the moment William Birkin was awake. It wasn't as if he was keeping quiet about it.
To tell the truth, he'd known Birkin was going to awaken long before it had actually happened. The vitals he'd been keeping an eye on (thanks to the injection he'd given the man's "lifeless" body) had begun to go wild, and Spencer had quickly made his way to the lab where they were holding the man in a cell.
Exactly like a research subject.
The man smirked slightly, crossing his legs. William obviously knew he was there. Ozwell had only spoken to the man a few times over the course of his career -- and he could imagine that this time, things would be quite a bit different between them. Understandable, considering Spencer had sent out well-trained men to kill him and steal his research.
But William Birkin had become too powerful -- and a thorn in Umbrella's side. Just as Marcus had before him.
"Hello, Dr. Birkin. What a pleasure it is," Spencer said, smile on his face apparent in his tone. "We haven't spoken in so long. Tell me, how is the wife? Oh, and your lovely child, of course. Sherry, I believe her name was?"
