Hannah couldn't help but jump a little as Neville cried his insistence of not-gay-ness. Her mouth hung open, and her face was blank as she tried to think back to whenever she had found out that Neville was gay. It had always just been a personal yet unspoken truth to her, for as long as Hannah could recall. "I - I, well -" Eyes wide, Hannah inherited a modification of Neville's stammer in her own voice. "I don't know," she said. "We were in school and someone had just said that you were, and..."
Volume dwindling down into silence, Hannah realized her mistake. It had been one of the boys in her year, in the common room. Hannah couldn't remember if it had been Ernie or Wayne or Zach or Justin, but at some point, someone had said it, Longbottom's so gay. Feeling her cheeks growing warmer and knowing she must be turning the shade of a tomato, Hannah covered her mouth, feeling like the stupidest girl in all of Hufflepuff house for believing the words at face value instead of the insulting way they had been intended. She was shocked, and very very embarrassed at the same time.
