She sat across from him, still so, so stunned at what he said. How could he say that to her? Yeah, best intentions and all, but he knew the reason whys he was--he knew, and she'd leave it at that. He hardly ever hurt her feelings; she grew thick skinned from the very beginning. But that hurt more than anything. Because, as far as she knew, he never grew up without a parent: Rose and Sara had.
She couldn't even enjoy the kiss...well, she did, a little bit. But not as much as if he kept his silly thoughts to himself.
"I can do whatever I want to do, Doctor," she replied coolly. She didn't have to explain herself; he should know (not that it ever occurred to her that he might've forgot, or was oblivious that her current psyche made her so gun-ho about just being around for Sara.) Because she still remembered how the Pete from the other world treated her--and it stung. She also remembered all those holidays without her father there, and could only imagine what Sara's holidays felt like. "We're in a paradox anyway. Yeah, she'll go home, but I'm not goin' to treat her like the plague, either. I want her to go home, I want her to be safe, but..you don't know what it's like growin' up..."
