"I think I've seen enough cattle for a lifetime," she smiled, finding it endearing what a novelty it was to Connor, something that had always been right in her own backyard. "But you should go see them. They're a lot larger than most folks think, up close." It still confused her how the future managed to survive without proper farming, but then if it were true what Markus said about not needing to eat, maybe that simply wasn't necessary anymore. "What year was it, that you're from?"
She tilted her head in surprise at Markus' admission, Connor's confirmation of the fact they'd only just met. "I'm not sure why I assumed it must have been longer," she laughed, "I suppose since I grew up in such a small town. Everyone knew everyone there was to know." Not that she'd consider many people in Sweetwater her friends, just familiar faces, names she knew, the complicated histories they shared. She wondered how any of them would handle showing up here, the way she did. Would they have just as much trouble adapting?
